------------------------ DRAFT LETTER ------------------------------

Dear Senator ____________:

Please support Senator Casey's amendment of 5/13/2010, Sec.1117, which will amend S.3217 to include "Appraisal Independence Requirements."

"Appraisal Independence Requirements" are important to California's appraiser community. More important, they are requisite to maintaining a balanced, equitable and reliable process for Americas home mortgage consumers. Integrity demands the appraiser continue to stand apart in this process.

"Appraisal Independence Requirements", when enabled as a direct result of Congressional leadership, will help the over 100,000 appraisers across the country, all of which are small businesses (14,000 of which are California), interact with appropriate regulators and direct, or redirect as determined best, new and more responsive rules effecting this important industry.

Hopefully, there is no room for compromise here. The appraiser is one participant in the mortgage process that can be a true balance point for each transaction. Quality of debt depends on this.

Sincerely,
xyz appraiser, License #
